Monterrey:
Monterrey is the capital city of the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León. It has the third largest metropolitan area in Mexico, after Mexico City and Guadalajara.
In 2005, the city population was estimated to be 1,133,814, and its metropolitan area had a population of 3.8 million.
The city is named after the Countess of Monterrei wife of the Viceroy of New Spain Gaspar de Zúñiga y Acevedo, Count of Monterrey.
Monterrey was ranked as the most secure city in Latin America and Mexico in 2005, and one of the two most secure in 2006.
